Things we think are worth mentioning and you may want to know about.
Some information on fuel.
Number one repair that comes into our shop is fuel related. We do more fuel system rebuilds (Carb. Jobs) than any other repair on equipment. Reading this should help in avoiding this problem. Sometimes what the owners manual say about fuels and oils is vary generic. The manufactures do not know if there unit is going to Sunny California, Alaska or some other country. Fuel and oils are different all over the world Being a dealer and going to update classes and talking directly with the engine manufactures are saying do not use regular gasoline anymore, Use Mid grade or Premium. You are going to get the best performance from higher quality and higher grades of fuel. Its money well spent. Do not use fuel over 30 days old in your small air cooled engines. Your car is different. It has multiple cylinders and does not work as hard as your smaller single cylinder engines. It is also recommended that fuel is purchased in quantities that can be used within 30 days. This will assure fuel freshness and volatility tailored to the season. Fuel will become stale when stored over 30 days. Stale fuel causes acid and gum deposits to form in the fuel system. Ethanol the alcohol in fuel deteriorates rubber and plastic parts like fuel lines primmer buttons and diaphragms inside the carburetor also corrode metal parts in the fuel system. With today’s gasoline fuel treatment is a must with equipment that sets for any length of time. To keep fuel fresh, use a fuel stabilizer & treatment. The treatment will counter act the effects of the ethanol and keep your fuel system clean.
The stabilizer will make the fuel last a few years. Briggs & Stratton fuel stabilizer & treatment or StarTron are great products for this.
StarTrom can make bad gas usable again. These products are a must.
Say you spend $100.00 on a weedeater. You use it for a few hours and put it away for the season.
You pull it back out to use it and it will not start. The untreated fuel has gone bad and now the unit needs a carb job. The unit is far from wore out but to have the fuel system repaired is close to the replacement cost of the unit. So now off to spend another $100 on another weed eater and sometimes it has not even been a year. Truly the few cents the
Stabilizer & Treatment cost will save hundreds.
There is no need to drain gasoline from the engine if a fuel stabilizer is added according to instructions. Run the engine for 2 minutes to circulate the stabilizer throughout the fuel system. The engine and fuel can then be stored up to 24 months.

2 Cyl Mixed Fuels.
With mixed fuel it’s important to use fresh hi quality
premium fuel or treaded stabilized fuel. Once you mix the fuel with oil it will
start to deteriorate. It can evaporate separate change ratio and go flat. Mix only what you can use
in a week or two after three weeks your fuel could be problematic and damage your michine.
Trying to run your equipment on old mixed fuel could ruin your equipment and steer you in to a repair job.
For the most part do not use 2 Cycle oils met for your water cooled outboard boat motor for your air cooled small engine.
Some engines are equipped with a oil injection. This is where the 2 cycle engine requires Mixed fuel but instead of you mixing the oil in the gas there two tanks. One for injector oil and one for gasoline and the fuel system of the engine will mix the fuel. If you have equipment with this type of fuel system you should buy Injector type oil. It is very important to mix the right oil and fuel correctly at the right ratio. Do not guess. You may think if a little oil is good a lot is better. Not true, It can carbon up your exhaust and pack up in the combustion chamber and ruin your engine.
If you don’t put enough oil in then you’re likely prematurely damaging your engine every time it runs or worse. You should Buy a 2 cycle oil that is made to mix at ratio of 50 to 1
Always mix your fuel in a separate container and not in the fuel tank of your machine. Stick with one oil. It’s not good to switch around oils. If you use a Synthetic oil they work differently than regular petroleum oil. You could have a problem using a synthetic and then switching back to regular petroleum oil.
